Successfully complete 150 hours of Board-approved courses covering the topics required by the Board. This must include 15 hours of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). |

You must submit a completed application to the Division of Licensing Services along with the examination and application fee of $275.00. You must receive an admission card/notice before walking in to take the exam. To obtain an application click here. You must take with you to the exam 2 forms of id, admission card/notice and two number 2 pencils. You will receive a notice of pass or fail in the mail. This must be retained until the necessary experience is received to apply for licensure/certification which must be completed within a 24 month time period. |

Assistant Appraisers must be supervised in the conduct of their services by a New York State licensed or certified appraiser who must cosign any appraisal report involving a federally related transaction. Hours must be logged on the required form which can be found in the application. |

Residential experience must contain experience in single family (including single co-op or condo), two-four family, or other residential experience (vacant lot/farm) 80% (1,500 hours) of the residential experience must be in the single family category. 10% (187.5 hours) of the residential experience must be in each of the two remaining categories. |

Every Appraiser must successfully complete 28 hours of approved appraiser continuing education courses within their two year license/certification period. In addition all real estate Appraisers with a license or certification must complete the 7 hour USPAP course in order to renew. Continuing education must be completed prior to renewal. The renewal application is posted to the appraiser approximately three months prior to the expiration of his or her license/certification. The application must be completed and submitted with a $300 fee to the Department of State. |
